Registering Glassability at your college

Glassability is an LTI tool instructors add to their own courses. To let it act for an instructor without asking them for a personal access token, register it once as a developer key. This takes a few minutes in the Canvas admin console and is the same step any vendor tool needs.

1. As a Canvas administrator, open Admin, your root account, then Developer Keys.
2. Choose + Developer Key, then + API Key.
3. Key name: Glassability. Owner email: your own. Redirect URIs: https://accessibility.glass/oauth/callback
4. Enforce scopes: leave off. Glassability reads and edits course content (pages, assignments, discussions, quizzes, files, modules) as the instructor who connected it; it never reads student submissions, grades or people. If your policy requires scopes, ask us for the list.
5. Save, and set the key's state to On.
6. Send us the key's ID (the number under Details) and its Key by a channel you trust; we register them on our server and confirm. Never by a public form.

Installing the tool itself

LTI 1.3, the current standard. Under Developer Keys choose + Developer Key, then + LTI Key. Method: Enter URL. JSON URL: https://accessibility.glass/lti/1.3/config.json. Save, set the key's state to On, and send us its Client ID with the API key above. Then, under Settings, Apps, + App, add Glassability By Client ID at the account, which puts it in every course's navigation and in the account navigation for administrators, or in one course to start.

LTI 1.1, still supported. An instructor can add the tool to their own course from https://accessibility.glass/lti/config.xml with the consumer key and secret we give your college, no developer key needed. Either door leads to the same report.

What Glassability keeps: course content it scans and repairs, the receipts of what it changed, and an encrypted token that acts as the instructor. Student records are never read. Every change waits for the instructor's go-ahead and is logged with a before and after copy.
